Frequently Asked Questions
Real answers about Our 12-Step Rug Cleaning Process — from Dallas Rug Cleaning, free pickup & delivery across DFW.
What are the steps in your rug cleaning process?
Our process moves through inspection, dye-testing, dry dusting, a full hand wash with water immersion, a thorough rinse, controlled flat drying, and final grooming. Each rug is evaluated first, then cleaned by the method its fiber and construction require, and finished by hand. The multi-step approach is why we clean off-site at our Dallas plant rather than in your home.
Why do you dust a rug before washing it?
Dusting removes the dry, gritty soil buried deep in the foundation before any water touches the rug. A typical area rug can hold pounds of fine grit that ordinary vacuuming never reaches, and if that grit is left in place, adding water just turns it into mud. Proper dusting is the single most important step for a truly deep clean, and it is impossible to do well inside a customer's home.
What is dye-testing and why does it matter?
Dye-testing checks whether a rug's colors are stable before full washing so we can prevent dyes from bleeding or running. We test each color area, especially reds and deep blues that are prone to migration, and adjust our wash method accordingly. This step protects hand-knotted and antique rugs where a single bleed can permanently ruin the pattern.
How long does the full 12-step process take?
Typical turnaround is 5 to 7 business days from pickup to delivery. The controlled drying stage is what sets the timeline, because rugs must dry flat and evenly rather than being rushed. We never shortcut drying, since a rug returned damp is the fastest way to create odor and mildew problems.
Do you clean rugs in my home or take them away?
Every rug is cleaned off-site at our dedicated Dallas plant, never in your home. Proper cleaning requires full water immersion and controlled flat drying that simply cannot happen on a living-room floor. We pick up and deliver free anywhere in the DFW metroplex, so the off-site process costs you nothing in convenience.
