My rug's colors have faded from the sun. Can that be fixed?
Sun-faded colors can sometimes be restored through professional dye correction, but it depends on how deep the fading goes. Light surface fading, where the fiber still holds original color lower in the pile, responds far better than fibers bleached all the way through. We inspect and dye-test the rug first, then give you an honest free quote on what is realistically fixable.
The colors in my rug bled after it got wet. What can you do?
Color bleeding, where one dye runs into a lighter area, can often be reduced or removed when it is treated properly, and the sooner the better. Our plant process includes careful dye-testing and controlled washing that can lift migrated dye and set the remaining colors so it does not happen again. Older, set-in bleeds are harder, so we assess each rug individually and tell you honestly what to expect.
What causes rug colors to bleed or run in the first place?
Colors bleed when unstable dyes release under water, which most often happens with home cleaning, over-wetting, or spills left to sit. Some rugs, especially certain hand-dyed or older pieces, have dyes that were never fully fixed, which is exactly why we dye-test every rug before washing. Controlled immersion and proper rinsing at our plant prevent the runaway wicking that causes bleeding at home.
What kinds of color problems can't be corrected?
Fibers that have been chemically stripped, bleached white, or physically worn down to the foundation usually cannot be re-dyed to their original look. Color correction restores or rebalances existing dye; it cannot recreate pile that is gone or reverse permanent chemical damage. We are upfront about this after inspection so you never pay for a result we cannot deliver.
