It depends on the type of flood water, since clean-source flooding is far more salvageable than sewage or outdoor floodwater. Rugs soaked in contaminated Category 3 water carry bacteria and health risks that require aggressive decontamination, and some are beyond safe recovery. Category 1 is clean water from a supply line, Category 2 is gray water from appliances, and Category 3 is black water from sewage or outdoor flooding that is heavily contaminated. We start with controlled drying, then a full-immersion wash and thorough rinse designed to flush out contaminants, sediment, and odor at our Dallas plant.
